New Minister of State for Antiquities appointed in Egypt

Ahmed Eissa has been appointed as the new minister of state for antiquities.

One of his first priorities, he explained, was to tighten securityat archaeological sites countrywide in order to halt encroachmentson them made over the last two years. “This can be achieved incollaboration with Egypt’s tourism and antiquities police by providingbetter-trained and better-armed security guards at all archaeologicalsites and museums, and by training ministry personnel in the use ofstate-of-the-art security equipment in order to thwart attempts toviolate archaeological sites,”

I can only hope he is as good as his word.
